Sew Deadly Southern Sewing Circle Series Elizabeth Lynn Casey Books
Tori has moved from Chicago, IL (the North) to Sweet Briar, SC (the South) and it hasn't been easy. The vernacular is different, the previous librarian, Dixie, does not like her, and most of all she is the number one murder suspect. Can Tori overcome all these difficulties and make a home and friends in Sweet Briar? An entertaining read, especially if you are a fan of sewing. This book made me constantly think of my Mamaw who loves to sew and create beautiful work. I wish I enjoyed sewing, Tori made it seem like the perfect relaxation technique.
I am already a fan of Tori and her library. I lost track of how many times I wanted to jump into the book and straight into the Children's room and grab a copy of Little House on the Prairie and lose myself for hours.
I was a tad disappointed on the cozy mystery murder aspect of the book. Several times I thought I had missed pages as it jumped in and out of the murder mystery with little or no details I am used to reading in cozy mysteries. The big reveal of the murderer never really happened. No big scene between Tori and her murderer. Now, we do need to realize this was a very early work of the author. Her current mystery series (An Amish Mystery series) is one of the best out there. If you haven't already guessed the author's other known name is Laura Bradford.
I have already marked this as a series I am continuing and finishing in 2019. I cannot wait to see what Tori does with the library. Who knows, maybe I will take up a sewing project will reading this series.

Sew Deadly Southern Sewing Circle Series Elizabeth Lynn Casey Books Reviews
Tori Sinclair is a stranger in her new town, Sweet Briar, South Carolina. Before she even has a chance to settle into her new position at the library, Tori becomes a suspect in the town's first ever murder. Now she feels even more like an outsider than before. With the help of some new friends in the new sewing circle she has joined, Tori must solve the mystery.
Very pleased with this read! I was in the mood for something that would be easy to pick up when I had a few moments to read here and there. This was the perfect fit. Plus, I am a sucker for whodunits so I kept reading to solve the mystery. Will definitely check out the rest of the series!
SEW DEADLY, DEATH THREADS and PINNED FOR MURDER by Elizabeth Lynn Casey.
I'm new to the party on this series. But the good news for me---I still have 5 more of the series in my TBR stack to enjoy! The newest being REMNANTS OF MURDER, released earlier this month.
I fell in love with Tori/Victoria and the people of Sweet Briar from page one of Sew Deadly. Ms. Casey kept me guessing through all 3 stories. Not only that, she kept me laughing! Out loud at times!
The members of the Sweet Briars Ladies Society Sewing Circle are different as night and day. The things they do have in common are, sewing, gossip and their strong belief in each other. Well, some stronger than others. But they always come around in the end.
Tori, the town librarian, along with her fellow sewing circle members, finds herself wrapped up in one mystery after the other in these three titles. But working together there is nothing they can't do, be it a group sewing project or solving a crime. I just wish I had this group of women around in my life. Luckily, I can spend time with them on the pages!
Each book includes sewing tips (Ms Casey gets some from her readers!) and a sewing pattern of the book's project. NOTE You do not have to know sewing to enjoy these stories. And fans with book themes won't be disappointed. Plenty of time is spent in the Sweet Briar Library!
I can't wait to get into the fourth in the series to see what the ladies are up to!
Do yourself a favor...read this series!
This was an Good book that JUST MISSED being GREAT! I loved the premise. The setting. The characters! I just wanted a better ending. Without spoiling it let, me try and explain. Maybe I've read too many Agatha Christie books but I like it when the killer get's exposed and everything (including motivation) is revealed. This did not give me my mystery "happy ending" it left me feeling like "What!? Did I skip a page or miss something?" The apprehension of the baddie is told almost as an aside, an afterthought, it was a real womp womp let down!
I've read two of these books and both has the unsatisfyingly low-key ending to a great build up. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Ms. Casey give us the big reveal. It may be corny, or hackneyed, but when the discovery, reveal, and arrest is told as an off hand comment it kills (pun intended) the enjoyment of the whole story! I wanted a small Southern town mystery and I got it. I love that it has a LIBRARIAN as the main character (natch!) but I felt cheated.
If you want to read a better small town Southern murder mystery with real characters and a great reveal at the end - a truly SATISFYING Mystery end to a story -- real the Aurora Teagarden Real Murders series by Charlaine Harris. (Now a Hallmark Channel cute but watered down movie!) They're great summer reads for small town Southern murder mystery!
A delightful fun read with some romance and a couple minor mysteries.Victoria Sinclair moved to Sweet Briar South Carolina to take the head librarian position. She bought a house there. Tori, as she prefers to be known, is invited to join a sewing circle. She has much to learn about living in the south. At the library, she meets the third-grade teacher and his students. One a shy girl named Lulu becomes a friend. Things she needs keep disappearing and make it difficult to function. The light over her door is one of them. A leading belle of the town has decided the third-grade teacher will be her husband. When she is found dead behind the library Tori is the only suspect. Will Tori find answers before she arrested? I enjoyed the book and plan on reading the rest of the series. I recommend the book.
